I was in a quilting mood, until I ran out of white cotton and the car has a problem.
I’m still learning how to machine quilt on my sweet sixteen machine. Sometimes my lines are a little crooked, but I keep going, hoping they will improve with practice.
I had this quilting template for a lot of years, and it fitted perfectly into the double wedding ring circle. Though it is a hand quilting template which means I have to go over, already stitched lines.
Anyway, I was having fun stitching this, until I ran out of cotton.
Hope the car is fixed today. To buy cotton I have to go to the next town, our little village doesn’t have a shop that sells cotton. So today I will have to work on one of my many other projects.
On Monday, now spring has arrived and the days are so wonderful, I did some furniture rearranging. After moving four pieces of furniture to different rooms, I am happy with the new arrangement. We have lived here for 3 years now and I still haven’t got things totally organised.
These draws came from the family room to the kitchen…and I like their colour in this location.

The September swap (Lets Stitch Together Swap) arrived today. My swap partner was Jeanette from jeanettespatch.
The swap was to make a bag and fill it with pampering things…and Jeanette sent these lovely perfumed surprises, filling the bag made with beautiful hydrangea fabric.
Inside was a collection of lovely soap and body wash, tea and tim tams, plus more!
And these pretty note cards…
And the bag Jeanette made…
And handmade card…
Thanks Jeanette, they are lovely and pretty together…

The week has flown by…must be having fun! The days are a little warmer now spring has arrived, so I have done a little bit of work in the garden, this week.
Last week was such terrible weather, and our quilt group had planned a trip to the quilt shop up the coast. We decided to go no matter what the weather, but as we travelled north the bad weather cleared and the sun was out all day…though it was still very windy.
Anyway, we had a nice day visiting quilt/fabric shops…and did some buying!!
After a quick tea break, at one friend’s place, who lives a little north, we continued on and first stop was Fifi’s FabricologyFifi’s has lots of wonderful fabrics and a sale room, with 30% off or 40% off if you buy whats left on the roll.

These fabrics, I bought for a workshop I will be doing at the end of September.
These fabrics were from the sale room. Love the green fabric, it is a basic grey fabric and I bought all that was on the roll, 2 metres. And stripes, everyone wondered what I would do with the big red stripe, but I kept going back to it, so I bought a metre. It’s a cabbage and roses fabric.
Then we headed for Eastcoast fabrics at Burleigh…and I bought a metre of this spot for $3.95 and some linen to make table runner.
Then the next stop was Fantasia at Tweed Heads… I only bought a marking pen there.
After Fifi’s we stopped for lunch at The Wood Box at West Burleigh. The food was wonderful, and the cafe has such a wonderful atmosphere.
Then last weekend, our local craft weekend was on…so there was some more fabric shopping. A lovely piece of linen and a packet of reproduction pieces. I had the pink fabric before and loved it, so this packet had some in it.
And some more french general fabrics, from Rainbow Patchwork…intended to use for the workshop.
So I had a fun week with fabric. And I love these John James needles, bought from Fifi’s. I have been hand quilting with one, and they are so smooth and the eye end doesn’t stick into your finger. I think they will be all I will use in future.

Today, was a nicer, sunny day after a few days of heavy rain.
There was a trip to spotlight, I was looking for rayon seam binding but they didn’t have any. Very disappointing or is it frustrating when shops don’t carry what your looking for and the staff don’t even know what the product is.
Anyway I still found something there, the material obsession quilt book and a couple of fat quarters.
This morning after all the rain last night, we found a bandicoot trapped in the bottom of our empty pool. (the pool is being painted if it ever stops raining). He was happy to be rescued…
There are 3 baby squeakys, the parents are kept busy with feeding them. They squeak all day for food. -
We went for a drive to in the countryside to Patches of Kyogle, as they had this fabric called Emma Louise pale coffee. I have been seeing on blogs the Stonefields quilt and decided to join in the fun. so now I have the background and can begin tomorrow.

Then we had a wander down the main street and lunch in a cafe.
And decided to take a big loop home, past grazing cattle.
And through a little town by the river.
Along a dirt road towards a rainbow.
And back past another twist of the river.
It turned out to be a much longer day out than first planned, but it was a nice drive in the country and I have the background fabric I need to begin the quilt.

Having a very unproductive day, though I had a blood test early this morning then got my hair cut. Sometimes it’s good to go slow.
The last part of bring me flowers BOM arrived today. I have not kept up with making them each month, because other quilts became more important to work on. So I still have this quilt to look forward to stitching.
It’s so cold today, so the fire is just starting, hoping it will warm the house, some.
I’m writing this post from the wordpress app on my ipad, not sure how the photo will look like. -

I’m looking forward to the days being warmer. I went to the sewing room for a while, but was just too cold, so I’m back inside where it’s warmer. I have been making double wedding ring arcs, I pulled out all the blue scraps I have. It makes such a mess playing with scraps, anyway I can shut the door and tidy it later.
These pretty roses were $5 at Woolworth’s…
They aren’t perfect, but so pretty!
And this is another quilt I have been working on. The Di Ford mystery quilt from Quiltmania magazine. This is round 3, I have already made round 4, I just need to finish this applique border before the next magazine arrives.
One of the things I like about the mystery BOM is that I get to work with fabrics I might not choose.

I work on so many different projects at the same time, too many!!
So some unfinished quilt projects from years ago are being retired, as never to finish, and I am putting the fabric back into my stash. And this is one such project started in a workshop many years ago, and I had only done a few blocks. I have thrown out the notes to the workshop long ago.
Then when I pulled it out of it’s bag, I thought those old fabrics are too pretty not to finish making it.
So then I had to find another pattern and method on the web. The one I found is done over paper, much easier than the previous method.
Then I decided to change the background to this spotted fabric. So today I spent some time making arches for the double wedding ring, how big it will become, I have not decided. I think double wedding rings look wonderful as full size quilts.
Than I was thinking could it possibly have different backgrounds? That way I don’t have to unpick what i already made.
