bundle of fabric…

This little bundle of fabric arrived today, from Amitie Textiles.  It’s from their bi-monthly fabric club.  I love playing with these bright, colourful fabrics.  It stretches my creativeness to have a variety of fabrics, that I probably would not, necessarily choose if I was picking them.

I love how they neatly package them, so the bundle has different fabrics on each side of the plastic packet.  Too nice to open and start cutting into them, but tomorrow that is what I will be doing.

around here…

There hasn’t been very much sewing lately as I have been sick for a couple of weeks. After two prescriptions of antibiotics I am beginning to feel better.  Even though today is wet and dull, spring weather is beginning to make the garden grow and bloom.

This cake I made the other day is mainly walnuts and was very nice for desert.

A cup of tea on the veranda at this time of year is very enjoyable.

We went out the other day and left the door into the garage open, and this visitor was in a bedroom when we got home.

This baby rosella was sheltering from the rain…

And  the bleating tree frogs are making a reappearance  for spring.    You wouldn’t believe the amount of noise these tiny frogs  can make.

And the magnolia at the front of our house is starting to bloom, this is the first flower of the season.

I will be back soon with some stitching pictures, I have been working on finishing some long waiting projects.

quilt day…

Quilt group was at my place on the weekend,  I loved having lots of laughter and chatter in my house.

There was the usual stitching and eating and some showing of quilts.

It was a very nice day…and our new dining table that extends to 2.1 metres worked wonderfully for everyone to sit around.

Day out…

Our son is here for a week so today we went for a drive to Evans Head.  It was so beautiful there,  we had fish and chips for lunch, by the water.  This little bay on the south side of the river is called Shark Bay.      Shark Bay from up on the look out and the mouth of the river.  Looking north along the coast.  A storm had quickly come up. Looking south.      And some local wildlife.

lavender and hexies…

The first signs of spring, being near is starting to arrive around here.  The days are wonderful, warm and sunny, just the weather I like.  My friend dropped in a pretty bunch of lavender on Saturday

And today, Jenny from Brisbane sent me hexagon flowers.  I love them and the centre with the paris print is wonderful.

I am so behind on sending out my hexagons, I have most of them made, I just need to organise them and go to the post office.  I definitely will get them sent this week!!!

new day…

I decided to have a name change to my blog, now soultreatstitching.com  I love the term soul treat and isn’t that what stitching or anything crafts and art is to a a creative person.  A time for relaxation, a time to play with colour, texture, and design.  And most of all a time of peace.

When I started my blog the name I choose seemed fitting.  We were recovering from being in a major traffic accident and life was taking some time out.  Now it’s time to move on, even though that accident totally changed our lives, all we could do is find the good things to go forward.

So now my stitching is about a treat not time out.  And finding time to stitch in a day is certainly good for the soul.

So, you will find me relaxing and stitching and posting more.

mailman arrived

Today the mailman bought me my first Massdrop order._DSC0354

I purchased Karen Buckley medium size scissors and the little curved ones were included.

I already have the large and small scissors and they are wonderful.  The serrated edge does stop the fabric fraying out.  Great for applique.

Now I need to go and cut up some fabric.   Will be back soon with what I have been working on.
