I finished my Haute Boheme french general quilt… I bought the kit from Craftsy.
quilted it by machine.
…happy with how it turned out!
The first Sunday of the month, and it usually means a trip to the car boot market in a nearby town. There is always lots of old treasures people are selling, lots of plants and old tools for my husband to look at and buy sometimes, when he finds something he likes. But today it was this chippy paint, old high chair that I found. After looking through the whole market I had to go back for a second look at it, and then the decision was made and it came home with us.
Now, it sits in the corner with a quilt and teddy…
…like my quilt cupboard behind, rustic.
…and I think I will leave the paint the way it is.
i do intend to post more this year…but things come up and I just don’t get around to sitting down and deciding what to write. So, this is a quick post while I have a cup of tea and toast for breakfast on our verandah. Sunday, was our first quilt group day, and we had a lovely day catching up with what everyone has been working on. The last few days have been really hot and humid which only makes me want to stay inside where the air con is on and not in the sewing room. I finished the quilt top I got for xmas, I need to take some pictures and the plan was to have it quilted before the group day, but that didn’t happen.
My plans for this year is to spend a lot of time sewing and quilting…finish some quilts and generally relax and enjoy days! And keep my garden more maintained. While we were away, the house was painted outside and it was so nice to come home to a freshly painted house.
What I wanted to post a picture of today, is the galahs that have arrived at the bird feeder. This is what happens, when the seed I bought is large bird seed, instead of the usual small bird seed. We usually only feed a couple of rosellas but with big bird seed the galah’s have arrived.
These are baby galah’s…I’ve never seen so many young galah’s as there is around here this year. And they are so funny…they even sound like babies. The one on the right, in the picture below is very young.
We really need to replace the brush panel on the fence, possums run up it at night which is breaking pieces off it.
We realy
Happy New Year, all my friends! We once again went to our little towns fireworks on New Year’s Eve…which finishes by 10 pm…as it’s a family new year eve event, with rides and fun for kids. My fireworks pics didn’t go as planned so I will show a pic of one of the rides instead.
And today we had a quiet day at home…our son was home for a week over Christmas, and he went back to Cairns on Tuesday. So now it’s time to put away the Christmas decorations….
Yesterday, I started the quilt kit I got for Xmas. It will go together quickly as it’s mainly borders. I am making it for my lounge room quilt, to snuggle under in winter! I would like to finish it by the time the quilt group meets in a few weeks so I have something to show!
The centre of the quilt…
I love french general fabric…while I was away on our trip to Canberra in early December, all the fabric I bought was French General!
Early morning view from where we are staying in Canberra. We arrived in Canberra on Wednesday after spending a few days on the NSW south coast. My grand mother came from the Milton, Berry area of the south coast, her family moved to the far nth coast of NSW when she was about 14. So we spent a few days visiting places that she talked about all her life…she never went back there for a visit.
Yesterday, we went to Parliament House for question time, it was the last day of parliament for the year. We had lunch in the cafe there and wandered around the corridors for a while. This xmas tree was the the foyer.
And the view from Parliament house.
The quilt group had a nice day on Wednesday, for one of our friends birthday, with a trip up the coast for the day.
First stop was a coffee half way, where we came across this lizard sunning himself and hoping for food, though we only had coffee so he missed out.
Then onto our friends place where another one lived…
Our friend lives in a wonderful location with a view across a lake…
And she loves to create little vignettes in her garden…
And some quilts…
And then there was lunch…
…we had a wonderful day with lots of chatting!
