fabric for quilt

I went to Rainbow patchwork, yesterday to buy some fabric for the inside border of the Anna Leven’s quilt by Marg Sampson George I’m currently working on.   The plan was to buy a grey background spot…but then I found this fabric called Paris Roses!

So there will be a hexagon border of the red flowers, a hexagon border of the stripe and then a solid border of the black flowers.  I was a little worried whether the pale fabrics would look too receding…then I decided to go with them anyway!

The only rule I had in choosing fabrics to use in this quilt is for them to be romantic looking.  It will be a different interpretation of the quilt when finished …I am enjoying working on it.   It’s both relaxing to stitch and a little challenging…

…we are about to have a thunder storm.  As I’m writing this post the sky is getting darker and the lightning and thunder coming closer.   The neighbours are hurrying to put their garbage bins out before the storm arrives.   Ours can wait till the storm passes…
